Call to Artists for the 20th Anniversary Topanga Artist’s Studio Tour

Topanga artists have the opportunity to join the 2022 Topanga Artist’s Studio Tour, sponsored by the Topanga Canyon Gallery. The Studio Tour is a unique art experience in Los Angeles which has been taking place for 19 years here in Topanga. The 2020 and 2021 Tours were canceled due to the pandemic and the community is excited to have it back this year.

The Topanga Tour invites people to drive to home studios throughout the canyon to meet the artists and see a robust display of their work. The Tour is a display of Topanga’s commitment to the arts, and the community’s interest in attracting and keeping fine artists here in the canyon.  Each year the number of art buyers attending the tour has grown, with over 500 people visiting 20 open studios in the canyon the last Tour, which was 2019.

Artists show in their home studio and often host out-of-area artists, so patrons can see a few types of work at each site. Patrons purchase a ticket to attend which covers two full days of the second weekend in June; they receive a full-color map with the Tour locations and an example of each artist’s work and contact info. Each artist typically displays work at the Topanga Canyon Gallery for three weeks before the tour; giving guests time to decide where to go on the Tour, and to purchase the pieces being shown in the gallery at any time. Artists enjoy the Studio Tour experience because they are able to display more work than usually possible in a typical “show” or gallery setting, and the leisurely pace allows patrons to spend enough time at a location to learn about the work and make selections.

Artists can apply online, at www.topangacanyongallery.com/studiotour. Deadline for applications is March 15.
