A month of Sundays: journaling with Catalyst Muse

October 17, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

How long has it been since you checked in with yourself and wrote down what you were
thinking, feeling, noticing? If it’s been a month of Sundays, now’s the time to reconnect and
record your thoughts and feelings. Why now?
There are many benefits to journaling. According to Hayley Phelan in the New York
Times, “There are the obvious benefits, like a boost in mindfulness, memory and
communication skills. But studies have also found that writing in a journal can lead to
better sleep, a stronger immune system, more self-confidence and a higher I.Q.”
In 2013, journalist and psychotherapist Tori Rodriguez wrote in Scientific American
magazine on the topic, “Expressive writing is known to help assuage psychological trauma
and improve mood. Now studies suggest that such writing, characterized by descriptions of
one’s deepest thoughts and feelings, also benefits physical health.” The study also
suggested that writing can help injuries heal faster. That’s good medicine.
Even better, journaling costs little. So, bring your favorite writing instrument and journal.
Dress in layers to make the most of crisp fall weather. Facilitator Kim Zanti creates space
for solo reflection, writing from prompts, and voluntary sharing. If you can’t be in Topanga
this Sunday, online Zoom sessions will be added on the 24th and 30th.

SUNDAYS: Oct. 17, 24, 30, and Nov. 7
10am – 12pm in Topanga, CA
outdoors • socially distant • masks required
limited to 10 people. $10 per session.
(location given upon registration)

Catalyst Muse workshops create learning that sticks. We shape safe, inclusive environments and intentionally teach both content and creativity skills, so that our workshops resonate long after they’re over.
