John S. Couch’s large scale paintings feature abstract compositions created with Japanese polymer on canvas that draw on his mixed Japanese-American heritage. Created during the height of the pandemic, the Chuushin series (“The Center”) is a representation of the artist’s reaction to the crisis, each work exhibiting a square at the center with dynamic calligraphic brushwork and vibrant colors.
