Delbar Azari, Moises Mendoza, Robin Tripaldi
In these precarious times with the flood of negative news surrounding us, why not step back, take a break, and engulf ourselves in the healing power of art. “Test Pattern” is the newest show at the Topanga Canyon Gallery. This show features three local artists, Delbar Azari, Moises Mendoza, and, Robin Tripaldi, and their journey to recalibrate and adjust to the uncertainty of the world around them.
Delbar Azari is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on abstract painting. With a love for colors, she gets her inspiration from nature, which in turn, she translates into bold compositions, organic forms, and extreme textures in her paintings. Delbar has a love affair with “contrast”. She seeks contrast not only in tone and color, but also in texture and finish. She uses many everyday objects to achieve her desired pattern. Currently she utilizes fluid acrylics and epoxy resin to create her recent body of work. She has worked with private collectors and interior designers on numerous site specific commission pieces both in the U.S. and abroad.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Moises Mendoza graduated from Art Center College of Design with a degree in illustration. Although still practicing his illustration skills, painting has become his main focus. He started working in collage from 2012 and hasn’t looked back. The exploration of the variety of textures and surfaces he can create and put together into his “landscapes”, is of endless fascination to him. Although nature is his main inspiration, he tries to push the forms found there and cuts them up and remixes them, so to speak, into something a little more stylized, abstracted to create new shapes.
Los Angeles native, Robin Tripaldi, works in encaustic, acrylic, mixed-media and assemblage. Her experimentation began with abstract expressionism and evolved through mixed-media, then encaustic – which incorporated both painting and mixed-media. Robin’s art, always compelling, whether minimal or complex, retains a consistent emotional narrative that is unique, sophisticated and often surreal and mysterious. Her work is impacted by her love of nature, current social environments, exploration of the spiritual world and symbolism. “While my paintings are an expression of my own personal journey, I believe art forges an emotional connection. I invite the viewer to experience their own personal journey and discovery through my art.” Robin’s work has been exhibited in the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, Chaffey Community Museum of Art and has been selected for solo shows and numerous juried exhibits. Robin’s work is in private collections nationwide and has appeared in print publications.
The show is at the Topanga Canyon Gallery August 18 – September 20. The gallery is open on weekends 12-5 and by appointment at other times.
