“A Walk with Nature” is a solo exhibition by local landscape artist Russell Hunziker. The exhibition features impressionistic landscape paintings inspired by Russell’s life long love of hiking in the local Santa Monica Mountains, beaches and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The paintings express Russell’s love of nature and his compositions echo the beauty of the natural world with the rich imagination and originality of an artist’s mind.
There is an intimacy and honesty about the subjects Russell chooses, as each painting is an expression of love of nature. Russell captures the luminous light in the magnificent natural landscapes he is so familiar with. His work is simple, and fresh. His paintings draw in the viewer and we are immediately transported into a world created by shadow and light.
