Canyon Sages July Update

Sages is back in full swing, post Covid drama. There will be regular classes for physical well-being (Balance, Yoga, Tango); for spiritual well-being (Meditation); and musical well-being (Ukulele, and a new monthly Song Circle).

A talk by Sarah Priest will boost your garden’s well-being with how to grow edibles, natives and fire protective succulents. During the talk, “The Topanga Gardener” on July 26 at 1:00 p.m., Sarah Priest will highlight tips for planting a sustainable and beautiful eco-friendly garden in Topanga. 20 years ago Sarah was working in “corporate America” when her dream life became clear. Sarah changed careers, becoming a landscape contractor specializing in sustainable and native gardens at home in Topanga, including getting a C-27 contractors license, and starting “Sarah Priest Landscapes.” Gardening is therapy.

More folks are getting on board working with native plants and sustainable planting techniques. The presentation on 7/26 will be a “toe in the water.” Hopefully she will return for a second talk to follow up soon.

Sarah’s presentation will include samples, plus where to buy and get free native plants. Sustainable gardening includes succulents, drought tolerant plants plus understanding types of soil and micro-climates in our area. “Create a beautiful garden and you will always live in one,” Sarah tells us.
