Grab your popcorn and find a cozy spot in your home on Friday, October 1st as the Topanga
Peace Alliance hosts another VIRTUAL First Friday Film Night Film Night featuring the new
documentary “9/11’s UNSETTLED DUST”
9/11’s UNSETTLED DUST examines the how federal and city officials lied about air contamination
in New York City following the destruction of the twin towers and failed to protect public health. It is
the story of the deadly illnesses that resulted from this deception, and of the epic battle fought by
9/11 responders and survivors to pass the James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act. The film
includes amazing footage of how some politicians in congress fought against providing health care
to first responders until they were overwhelmingly shamed into doing so. This is a documentary that gives just one example of how the greed of the wealthy translates into environmental laws, regulations, and policies that literally kill over 8 million people around the world each year.**
We will open the Zoom event at around 7:15. Before the film, we will have announcements
regarding upcoming events and actions for peace and social justice. We will also talk about
followup actions to our special September program on systemic racism. We will enable video so
that we can optionally see each other if you choose to enable your camera. After the film we will
have a discussion about how wealth and greed are defining our country’s politics and what we can
do about it.
