We all outgrow things (whether we grow up, out, or something in between), and our community could be a great source for renewal. Help the environment, your budget, and your friends and neighbors by taking part in our TCC community-wide clothing exchange!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
YOU GIVE YOU GET!
NO COST – DONATION ONLY.
Friday, November 19:
Bring your clean, gently used clothing and shoes that you no longer want to the TCC. SIGN UP!
The next day on Saturday, November 20:
You return to shop for new or gently used items to freshen up your wardrobe or for your family. SIGN UP!
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP SORT CLOTHING!
Volunteers get a first look and first dibs on the items in the swap from 9-10am on the 20th.
GUIDELINES:
TCC members may bring up to 50 items. Non-members may bring up to 20 items. Become a member and get more goodies!
Only clothing and shoes!
Accessories like hats or mittens/ gloves / are fine but no jewelry, purses or bags.
New, gently used or like-new socks / tights are fine.
Since Topanga is 4-seasons, this is a 4-season exchange. Bring anything that fits within your limit.
Do not bring housewares, furniture, towels, sheets or other items.
No underwear, bathing suits or cloth masks, please.
Please inspect your items ahead of time.
It will be easiest if you organize or bundle your items by size for easy sorting. Please keep adult/child clothing separate. Organize by size and gender: M / F / either (esp for kids’ clothing).
All items will be inspected to make sure there are no stains, no broken zippers, no pilling, no holes in the garments.
What do I get?
You may “shop” for up to 10 items of a single size. We are enforcing this so that everyone gets a chance to select items of popular sizes. We’re asking that everyone is considerate of your neighbors and if you do not need three size 4T winter coats, just choose one and leave the others.
How long do I get to shop?
You will have a 30 minute window to shop. Please sign up ahead of time!
Is there a place to try things on?
We will have one privacy tent available for trying on clothes.
Can I bring my kids?
Of course, just follow the COVID guidelines (listed below) for this event. We want your kids to fit into whatever you choose. We will also have a changing tent in case you need to try things on.
Will you have bags available for my haul?
We’re working on that but it’d be great if you BYOB – bring your own bag.
What happens if there are things left over?
After 3pm, any remaining items will be available at no limit. Salvation Army will get the remainder of items not taken.
Can I sell my stuff?
Not for this event! We hope to hold the swap meet in January. You are welcome to get a booth to sell items then, but this is a cost-free community event.
What are the COVID guidelines?
This is an outdoor event on the TCC ballfield. We are doing out best to stagger the number of people on the field at a given time. A current TCC waiver, proof of vaccination or recent covid test for entry and mask requirements when not socially distanced will be in effect.
