MALIBU LIBRARY PRESENTS DANCE: BENITA BIKE’S DANCEART

February 22, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The Malibu Library presents a program of dance on Wednesday, February 22, 7:00pm featuring modern dance
company Benita Bike’s DanceArt. Admission is FREE – Visit https://lacountylibrary.org/malibu-library/ to register. The Library is located at 23519 Civic Center Way. This performance is supported by the Friends of the Malibu Library and the Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Arts and Culture.
How do dancers create dances? How do they change movement into mood, image and story? These questions
and more are answered when Benita Bike’s DanceArt takes the stage at the Malibu Library. Dances are performed, and
viewers have many opportunities to talk with performers and other audience members.
Benita Bike’s DanceArt is a 42-year-old dance company dedicated to presenting concert dance works not only in
theater seings, but also in non-traditional community spaces.

Tam Warner of L.A. Dance Chronicle states: ““There is a hidden gem of the dance world in our midst and that is Benita Bike’s DanceArt Company.”
Featured on this program are the dances “Schoenfield Dances” and “Benches.”
“Schoenfield Dances,” to music by Paul Schoenfield, blends a classical sensibility with older popular dance styles.
“Benches” takes you into a park to people watch and imagine the lives of other people in the park.
