The Santa Monica Mountains after dark is a completely different world!
Most of the animals we normally see during the day are fast asleep. But as the sun sets, different kinds of animals, like scorpions, are just waking up.
Yes, we know these critters look terrifying, and that their sting can pack a powerful punch! Doesn’t that just make you want to learn more about them, though?
Join Ranger Aaron on a hike to explore and possibly find some of these fascinating creatures. UV lights will be provided, but they are limited!
Meet us at the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center in Newbury Park at 7:00 pm on September 18. We will be hiking until about 9:00 pm.

The entrance for Rancho Sierra Vista is at the cross street of Via Goleta and Lynn Road.
To get to the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center: Walk 0.3 mile up gravel road from the main entrance parking area to brown wooden building.
