The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains needs your help to care for over 200 oak trees at Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park.
During this event volunteers will help the RCDSMM care for previously planted oaks by watering, weeding, and mulching trees as well as potentially planting new acorns to replace those trees that may have died. Volunteers will also collect meaningful data to aid in an ongoing reforestation experiment the RCDSMM has been conducting since 2018. Please wear clothes you are willing to get dirty in as well as durable shoes. Be sure to bring a sun hat, layers and drinking water.
We will be meeting in the parking lot of Trippet Ranch located at 20829 Entrada Road, Topanga, CA 90290. Carpooling to this event is encouraged as parking is limited!
We are back to hosting volunteer events but in light of concerns surrounding the spread of COVID-19, we are limiting the number of volunteers that are able to attend. CA State Parks is also encouraging all volunteers show proof of vaccination or negative covid test before volunteering.
We look forward to your help in our efforts to reforest the wildlands of the Santa Monica Mountains! If you are interested in receiving our full schedule, please email our Outreach Coordinator at [email protected]
