Six Months After the End of the World

Latest on TCC program for seniors and those food-insecure

Need a Meal? Get a Meal — Topanga CARES

The Topanga Community Center and Canyon Sages, with support from the office of Los Angeles County Third District Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, will be offering meals and toiletries for Topangans who have been adversely impacted by the coronavirus crisis.

Meals prepared by three local businesses—Rocco’s in the Palisades, Café 27 and Waterlily Café—will be available for pick up at the Topanga Library on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The start date is tentatively June 22. Check for updates and register online at Topangacommunitycenter.org

Pre-registration is not required but is requested to ensure a meal will be available for everyone who needs one.

Alternative ways to register include printing out the form, completing it and dropping it off at Waterlily Café or Cafe 27, or calling TCC at 310-455-1980 and leaving a message with name of the person requesting the meals, the days on which a meal is needed and the name of the person who will pick up the meal or meals if the recipient is unable to come in person.

“We know some residents are home bound or unable to make it to the library,” the announcement states. “Anyone may pick up on your behalf if you need that done.”

From the start of the pandemic, the Canyon Sages have been working to get meals to those unable to cook who reside in the canyon. Lifelong Topangan and TCC member Kristina Rocco Levy stepped up to the challenge and began providing meals prepared at Rocco’s Cucina in Pacific Palisades.

By partnering with L.A. County, the Sages and TCC are now able to expand the program and continue to provide nutritious, homestyle meals for Topanga residents in need.

TCC also continues to offer grocery delivery for seniors and residents with health issues. Visit the website to learn more or to donate to help support this program and all of the things TCC does for the Topanga community. Topangacommunitycenter.org
