When TNT interviewed Topanga singer-songwriter Cecilia Noël last year, she told us that the coronavirus quarantine was a time to stay active, work on projects and find ways to safely collaborate and continue to create new work. Following her own advice, Topanga resident Cecilia Noël has used her time to create another fabulous music video with the support of her band, The Wild Clams.
Cecilia is a Peruvian native who makes her home in Topanga with husband and collaborating musician Colin Hay. Her band, The Wild Clams, is a passionate, eclectic and eclectic mix of salsa, soul, jazz, funk, afro-cuban.
During a year when tours and live performances have been canceled and postponed, and in a time when neighbors have come together—from a safe distance—to look after each other, Cecilia worked to create a homage to the canyon community she loves.
“I wanted to pay homage to our Barrio, to our beautiful neighbors,” Cecilia told TNT. “My love for the canyon grows more each year and has inspired me to write this new song.”
Cecilia explains that she feels a deep connection to the sacred Tongva land and is grateful for the warm community that is her neighborhood.
“We are surrounded by beauty and love,” she says. “From Topanga Days to Café Mimosa and The Canyon Bistro, Topanga has always opened its arms to my music and creativity. This is my Home!”
The video and single of “Famosa en el Barrio (Famous in My Neighborhood),” released by Compass Records, will be IS available Friday, February 5 on all platforms!
