The Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore whose motto is “Painting and Preserving the Santa Monica Mountains” will once again be having their Art on the Green art show supporting the Palisades Village Green, and local and national conservation organizations.
The 6th annual art exhibit and sale will be on Sunday July 16, 2023, from 10AM to 4PM at the Pacific Palisades Village Green, 15290 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades, CA. The exhibit and sale will feature many local artists displaying original, representational landscape and seascape paintings of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and other Southern California National, State, and local parks.
The Village Green is a beautiful park in the center of Pacific Palisades, located on the site of the original park that was founded in 1923. Years later, the community dreamed of recreating the Village Green Park from the ‘20’s, and in August of 1973 the privately funded park was created as a place of beauty to be enjoyed from within and admired from a distance. The tree-lined park features a fountain, benches, and lawn area. Surrounded by local restaurants and businesses it’s the center of activity for the Palisades. The park is supported solely by donations and is maintained by volunteers. To this day, it stands as a symbol of our community’s spirit, generosity, and love of beauty.
Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore is a 20-year-old organization of local fine artists that paint representational art of the Santa Monica Mountains and beaches to promote appreciation of our environment and to support conservation and maintenance of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMMNRA). The group of artists provides information, art, and an appreciation of the local mountains and seashore as a public service and donates a portion of art sales to conservation and environmental organizations. The group collaborates with national and local agencies such as National Wildlife Federation, #SaveLACougars, Mountains Restoration Trust, Western National Parks Association, National Park Service, and King Gillette Visitor Center to present art shows and raise funds to help preserve the mountains and beaches. The group also sponsors free monthly paint-outs on the second Saturday of the month. The free paint-outs are from 9 am to 1 pm and are open to any artist and any media and at any skill level.
