Canyon Sages Upcoming Events 

Sages activities and classes resumed on May 29, after a brief Topanga-Days-related pause. Noteworthy upcoming events will include:

June 5 from 1PM – 2:30PM: Book Talk, discussing Misfits by Mark Harris, featuring the local author himself. Misfits is a collection of short stories that follow an intriguing cast of characters who see themselves as outsiders in a fast-paced world. Through unexpected adventures that lead to self-revelation, the characters discover new sources of resilience, connection and hope. Set in Los Angeles, Harris portrays LA as a microcosm of contemporary society. Mark Harris has published essays, non-fiction books and five award winning children’s books. Mark is best known as a documentary film maker. He has won multiple Academy Awards for his documentary films, a Writers’ Guild Award, and other awards and acclaim. New to Book Talk? Canyon Sages is hosting Topanga authors who would like to share their work. The author will be interviewed by Mark Hein about their lives, work, and inspirations, followed by readings from the author. Books will be available for purchase. June 18 from 1PM – 2:30PM: Celebrate the summer solstice with the Sages Garden Club!  Learn about garden planning, planting, and maintaining a beautiful and sustainable garden. Sages Garden Club is led by Topanga Landscape Designer Sarah Priest and local Landscape Architect Hannah Wear. Share your hints and bring your tips and questions on creating a beautiful, sustainable, drought tolerant garden that promotes a healthy environment. Thank you, TES Students! The students of Topanga Elementary School hosted the Sages Garden Club for a lovely afternoon tea and garden tour on May 16. The Topanga Elementary School Student Council guided the Sages through their bountiful organic garden pointing out vegetables and herbs. The Sages were impressed with the well maintained and healthy organic garden. The Sages were then treated to tea and homemade sweets! Thank you to the Topanga Elementary School Student Council, Amrita Bessin, Principal Kevin Kassebaum and Kelly Rockwell.

June 20 at 12:30PM: Sages Healthy Aging Series presents pharmacist Greta Goldshtein of Courtyard Pharmacy in Calabasas. Greta will focus on a holistic approach to medicine, including supplements, diet, and exercise that benefit both the body and mind. Greta believes that everyone should have the opportunity to engage in meaningful partnerships with knowledgeable and caring health professionals who work as a team. Bring your questions! Everyone is welcome to this free event. Refreshments served.
