Topanga Elementary Charter School would like to encourage the Topanga community to join our local public school! TECS has been around since 1953 at their same location. The school is located on a 12.4 acre wooded campus in the heart of Topanga Canyon. With a small population of approximately 220 students in grades from Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade, they foster long lasting relationships with students and families.

TECS offers a fully credentialed faculty and a robust enrichment program funded by both the LAUSD and Topanga Enrichment Programs, Topanga Elementary’s parent group. TECS currently offers instructional aides in every classroom, technology teachers and resources, physical education coaches, a science teacher, outdoor education/garden teacher, art teacher, library staffed by a district library aide, music teacher, and an instrumental music program. They have district provided meals, and free aftercare by LA’s Best until 6:00 p.m. Additionally, they have optional Spanish and Rising Stars after school programs. There is also a Spring Musical directed by FocusFish. Students participate in field trips to enrich the curriculum. Students are also offered leadership opportunities through the Student Council.

The play-based Transitional Kindergarten program is open to all 4-year-olds and follows district and State guidelines with a 10:1 staffing ratio. The TK children share a developmentally appropriate playground with the kindergarten children. TK students have additional outdoor time including painting, sandbox play, water tables, outdoor blocks, parachute activities, and tricycles. TECS encourages unstructured play with ample time for students to develop relationships.

Topanga Elementary Charter School offers many opportunities for parent involvement including Local School Leadership Council, volunteering in classrooms and in fundraiser activities, and becoming a part of TECS’ parent group, Topanga Enrichment Programs (TEP).All interested families are encouraged to reserve their spots at Topanga Elementary Charter School by completing an enrollment packet available in the school office: 22075 Topanga School Road.
