Sophie & the Baron Accepted as a Disney Documentary

Topanga local, visual artist and writer, Sophie Kipner, will be featured with Baron Wolman in a documentary short on Disney+! Sophie & The Baron is set to be the first documentary under Disney’s brand new banner, Disney Original Documentary.

Deadline states: “Sophie & the Baron tells the story of the unlikely friendship between iconic Rolling Stone Magazine photographer Baron Wolman and artist Sophie Kipner, which blossomed as the former’s career was winding down, and the latter’s was just beginning. It takes viewers on an uplifting journey into an artistic collaboration that transcends eras and mediums.”

In September of 2020, Topanga New Times featured an interview with Sophie Kipner where we asked her about her art, about growing up in the canyon, and about her then-current project, #DONTLIFTUPDONTLOOKDOWN. Now, we are excited to see her talent recognized and displayed far beyond Topanga.
