Creating Your Reality

This whole concept of “You create your own reality” has become quite mainstream as a phrase people use. But do you know what this actually entails?  What does this even mean – I create my own reality??

Let’s entertain, for a moment, the idea that we live in a holographic universe. Everything is a reflection of you. If you’re making a scrunched-up ugly face, that’s what will be looking back at you. If you’re making a sweet, loving face, then what you will receive will be a sweet, loving thing staring back at you.

The world we live in is the same as this. If we are walking around feeling negative, more of that will come our way, and vice versa—if we believe the universe is a kind, benevolent, joyful place, then that is what is reflected back. If you feel like testing this for yourself, I urge you to do so. (I always test people’s theories before I decide whether I agree with them or not.) Become aware of your mood. If you’re in a great mood, watch how easily life seems to flow for you. If you’re in a bad mood, watch how one thing after another seems to go wrong throughout your day.

This is one of those cosmic laws that once you realize that they are, indeed, accurate becomes a major game changer in your life because you now know that you really are the creator of your own reality. Everything that happens stems from you. Yes, even the not so pretty stuff that happens in the world at large—it’s a collective reflection, and the collective sure has some trauma it still needs to deal with.

For some people, this is idea of being a powerful creator is exciting news because they immediately step it up and start really creating a life they love. Other people just don’t want to own the shadow aspects of themselves (yet). And that’s totally okay. They’ll do it when they’re ready, but life will keep mirroring back to them those not so nice things.

So, what to do if you don’t like your reality??  Well, it’s quite simple, really, but simple doesn’t always feel easy. The simple answer is to change the energetic frequency you are emitting. In a horrible mood and everything is wonky? Breathe, dance, meditate, take a walk, call a friend, have a cry, have a scream, punch some pillows, do some freeform writing, create something, go to nature, read a book, listen to a podcast, make a gratitude list… DO something that will elevate your frequency. And yes, there are days when this will be incredibly challenging to do even the simplest of these things, and there will be days when you may just want to wallow in your upsets. That’s okay.

When you decide you do want to shift, just remember that you really do have the power to change your reality.

All you have to do is decide you want it badly enough.
