Open Studios of Topanga, October 5 and 6!

The Topanga Canyon Gallery created the tradition of Open Studios, lasting for 20-years, and when the gallery closed, two artists of the canyon both reached out separately to the gallery to let them know they were interested in carrying on the inspiring, beloved event. From there, Trudy Perry and Danielle Hutchens were connected and decided to take on the beautiful tradition together in a way that was reimagined outside of the gallery walls.

Because Danielle and Trudy took Open Studios on as a separate venture from the gallery, they started from scratch and built a vision together that brought over 800 attendees and 40 participating artists to Open Studios of Topanga in 2023. Their north star has always been keeping this tradition alive and instilled in the canyon, and they are continuing to do just that. As they anticipate a large turnout for this year’s Open Studios, Trudy and Daneille take a focus on bringing new eyes into the canyon to gain a better understanding of the rich, artistic history that this special place holds. They have also nurtured the essence of the artistic community by holding a fireside chat and artist social, leading up to the main event.

This year’s Open Studios of Topanga Canyon now has over 50 participating artists. From returning artists of the canyon to new and emerging artists, this year’s Open Studios journey will take you through the artistic works of painters, mixed media artists, photographers, sculptors, textile artists, ceramicists, and a poet. Open Studios will remain a two-day event, taking place October 5th and 6th, from 10am-5pm each day for self-guided tours. Tickets are $30 and further information is available by visiting Eventbrite, or directly on the Open Studios website: www.openstudiosoftopanga.com. They will also be featuring participating artist spotlights on their Instagram, be sure to give them a follow: @openstudiosoftopanga.
