Topanga Youth Services Talent Show goes on!
Due to the restrictions of gathering, TYS is hosting the community youth’s talent acts online this year. Even though we are eager to get back to our stage, we hope you will join in watching the performance videos through TNT’s Facebook page. Tune in on November 8 at 2 p.m. to facebook.com/TopangaNewTimes. The show will also be available on topanganewtimes.com/tntv afterwards!
We will have a variety of recorded acts from Topanga kids, including Emma Farkas, Anika Williams, Jack Pedroza, Lola Momoa, Mia Klemp, Jude Klemp, Elias Klemp, Jaz Bennassar, Kenza Carolan, Rafaella Kistler, Marcel Kistler, Miles and Logan Zaud, Aurora Finetti, Chloe Gaines and Julian Najah, as well as some “from the Vault” acts from years past (including Anika and Brodie Beauvais and Gabbi Beauvais, Nate Cambras, Leela Ladnier, Slater Anton, Brothers Gage, Valentina Silardi and Aurora Finetti)! This year’s show will be MC’d by Jude, Mia and Elias Klemp.

Santa Monica College is offering two free noncredit certificate programs in sustainability this winter, beginning January 4, 2021. The Sustainability Assistant program offers a general understanding of sustainability principles and helps students identify potential career opportunities in industry and government like community engagement representative, sustainability assistant or coordinator, project manager assistant.
The Sustainability Services Technician program provides an introduction to careers in clean technology to help prepare students for careers such as recycling coordinator, waste management technician, resource recovery assistant, environmental assessor, sales and operations and management assistant.
The instructors include Topanga resident and sustainability expert Victoria Charles, who will be teaching fundamentals of sustainability.
Participants will have access to academic and career counseling and to SMC’s Chromebook lending program. Students who complete the program will be connected to JVS West Los Angeles Work Source to receive assistance in looking for jobs in the field and will be invited to participate in SMC’s graduation.
