Victoria Charles, Topanga’s recycling and sustainability expert, will be bringing her popular Fundamentals of Sustainability class to Santa Monica College’s Malibu campus this spring. It’s an easy to access opportunity to learn how waste can be prevented and repurposed.

SMC’s sustainability courses in the TNT to inform about our offerings for the upcoming spring semester. The class, offered on Fridays from 11 am to 12:50 pm, in person or via Zoom, is part of a series of sustainability classes offered by the community college that can be taken separately or together with the goal of earning a certificate in programs like Sustainability Organic Aide, Sustainability Services Technician, and Sustainability Assistant.

This certificate program has the potential to open doors to entry level positions in the rapidly growing sustainability sector, which includes waste management, but also sales, technical jobs, food systems, project management, composting and more.
