Hollywood Bowl

Thousands of people waving lightsabers under the stars? That can only mean John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl. The legendary film composer was there in person to conduct the Los Angeles Phil in a film-themed program celebrating his 90th birthday. Summer is almost over, but there is still time to visit one of Los Angeles’ greatest cultural institutions.

The annual end of summer fireworks finale takes place this weekend, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. This year, it’s headlined by Duran Duran, and there’s still much more before the season officially ends at the end of September, including Itzhak Perlman, Pink Martini, Angélique Kidjo, and a Sound of Music singalong. The Hollywood Bowl turned 100 this year. It continues to amaze and delight, with an eclectic, awe-inspiring, and just plain fun lineup of world-class music and entertainment.

This is the first year that things feel “back to normal” at the Bowl, but masks are still recommended, and are mandatory and essential for anyone opting to use park-and-ride or a shuttle. The L.A. Zoo park and ride lot is an easy option for anyone coming from the Valley. The Santa Monica shuttle lot is an ideal choice from the Westside. Parking at the Bowl is expensive and limited, but could be worth it to limit potential coronavirus exposure. All parking options can be accessed and reserved online. Learn more at www.hollywoodbowl.com
