TWC Honors Patty Colvig

Nestled among the shops of Pine Tree Circle, the Topanga Women’s Circle bin has long been a hub of community support. The bin is the central location where TWC coordinates their work of creating apartments for homeless families in Los Angeles County.  This volunteer group turns sparse institutional apartments into comfortable homes. By providing new and like new items, they create an environment of comfort and dignity for families moving into transitional housing.

Recently the bin, which already has a beautiful poppy mural created by artist Liz Dupuy, was graced with a visit from artist ehlae who created a new mural to honor long-time volunteer and supporter Patty Colvig. Patty’s legacy lives on through this touching portrait of her trusted companion Seamus, serving as a reminder of the selflessness and dedication she embodied. Topanga Women’s Circle hopes that the mural will inspire others to join their cause, continuing Patty’s work, and fostering a sense of unity. As visitors to Pine Tree Circle pass by the mural they will not only admire ehlae’s artistic talent, but also be reminded of the enduring impact that one person’s love and commitment can have on a community. You can see more of his work on his Instagram account @ehlaeone

TWC is in need of volunteers who would like to have hands-on experience with helping set up apartments for homeless families before they move in. If you are interested in volunteering please email Lin Ilsley at [email protected] or Teresa Royer at [email protected].
