Don’t Forget to Vote

There is just one item on the ballot for the November 4 California election: State Measure 50, which “authorizes temporary changes to congressional district maps in response to Texas partisan redistricting.

Here’s the full text of the initiative:

Requires temporary use of new congressional district maps through 2030. Directs independent Citizens Redistricting Commission to resume enacting congressional district maps in 2031. Establishes policy supporting nonpartisan redistricting commissions nationwide. Fiscal Impact: One-time costs to counties of up to a few million dollars statewide to update election materials to reflect new congressional district maps.

All registered voters should have received a ballot in the mail, and there is still time to drop it in the post. Voters can also drop their mail in ballot off at any voting location from now until the end of election day, or vote in person.

In Topanga, the election place is the Topanga Library, 122 N. Topanga Canyon Boulevard. The polls will be open from 7 am-8 pm on election day, and from 10 am to 7 pm from November 1-3.
