Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, are hosting a free, family-friendly safety fair. The event will feature information related to disaster preparedness, home hardening, and personal health.
Presentations will feature representatives from the Resource Conservation District, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Services, and earthquake expert Margaret Vinci from CalTech. In addition to the scheduled presentations, the event will include a COVID-19 vaccine clinic, blood pressure checks, Narcan education, and hands-only CPR demonstrations.
“Events like this are important to the community so they become aware of the resources available to help prepare for natural disasters such as fires, floods, and earthquakes,” said Irwin. “With the help of the resources we’ve gathered, residents will be provided with the information necessary to help them protect their homes and families during the next emergency.”
Lost Hills Sheriff’s Captain Jenn Seetoo will offer story time with a reading of “Star’s Great Adventure: Becoming a Deputy Sheriff,” featuring a mini horse. Meet the Mini Therapy Horses, the K9s, and visit the pet adoption area. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see a number of emergency response vehicles up close that will be provided by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, CalFire, Animal Control, the City of Calabasas and others.
The “Be Prepared Safety Fair” will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Rd., Calabasas.
